LOST: season 5 episode 8
“LaFleur”
In episode 8 we find out what happend with Sawyer, Juliet, Miles, Jin, Daniel and Charlotte after lock reset the wheel to stop the flashes. We also get to find out why we found Jin in a Dharma jumpsuit and the end of “316″ when the Oceanic Six returned.
No More Flashes, New Dharma Recruits
After Locke fixed the wheel underground, there is another flash. Sawyer, who was holding a rope that lead into the ground (he must have carried it with him when the flash happened) now wants to dig up the ground to save Locke, Juliet stops him. Miles spots in the distance a huge stone statue, in fact the very statue we saw the remains of (the 4-toed statue) back in Season 2. They surmise that they must have jumped very far back. However, Locke resetting wheel causes one more flash, this time a particularily violent one.
The survivors feel that this flash is different than the rest, it was more intense. Also, their headaches are gone and noses aren’t bleeding. Juliet exclaims that Locke did it, he stopped the flashes.
Sawyer, the impromtu leader now, decides to head back to the beach, much to Miles dismay. Saywer wants to wait there for Locke to return, and says he will wait for however long it takes. On the way they find Daniel mumbling that “he won’t do it, won’t tell her”. They ask where Charlotte is and he tells them she died, and her body no longer travelled with them.
It is then that they hear a gunshot and a scream. Upon investigation they find a woman with a bag on her head surrounded by two armed men. Another man in a jumpsuit lay dead. She is screaming for the dead man.
Sawyer and Juliet, armed, intervene. They try to get the men to drop the guns but they won’t, one takes a shot at Sawyer but the bullet does nothing (probably like Michael, the island won’t let him die). Juliet shoots one dead and Sawyer the other.
They rescue the woman who is shocked not only that her husband, Paul, is dead, but that they killed those men. She says that because of the truce, they will have to bury them. She also wants them to help take Paul’s body back to their camp. Juliet recognizes the jumpsuit, they are Dharma.
The woman, named Amy takes them near the sonic fence. Juliet knows what this is and tells them to stop and tells Amy to turn it off. Amy looks confused but soon realizes that Juliet knows what it is. She enters some keys into the console and Sawyer tells her to walk through to prove that it is off. She does and the rest of the group walk through. However, the sonic fence sends them to the ground, rendering them unconscious. Amy stands before them, pulling ear plugs out of her ears.
Sawyer awakens and is being questioned by Horace Goodspeed. Sawyer tells him that his name is Jim LaFleur and that their salvage vessel sailed from Tahiti and they were looking for the Black Rock when they came upon shore. Horace seems to buy it, telling Sawyer that they can stay until the morning and then they have to leave on the submarine. Sawyer wants to stay and wait for his crew but Horace won’t let him.
Sawyer meets up with the rest of the group who are sitting outside. Daniel, still a little confused, sees a young red headed girl who must be young Charlotte. Sawyer arrives and tells them that they are being shipped off the island.
Just then alarms begin to sound and people start running everywhere. Most are being armed. Sawyer and the group are taken to a house to wait. Juliet peers outside and sees Richard Alpert coming into the centre of the town. He plants a torch on the ground and waits. Horace heads out to talk with Richard.
When Horace comes back he explains that Alpert is looking for his missing men, and that the truce is on the line. Sawyer decides to go out and speak with Richard on his own.
He approaches him and tells Richard that the truce is still on, that he killed Richard’s men and he is not Dharma. He also explains the hydrogen bomb Jughead and asks if they buried. He also says that he is waiting for John Locke to return, and that they had been to his camp over twenty years ago. This is enough to confuse Alpert, but he still wants retribution for the dead men.
Sawyer returns to Horace and said he smoothed things over, but that Richard is going to want Paul’s body to take back with him. Amy agrees to let them take her husband’s body, but not before she removes the ankh neclace from his body.
Horace tells Sawyer that the sub comes back in two weeks, and that he can stay until then to look for his crew.
Three Years Later, A Baby is Born, The Crew is Found
The two weeks turns into three years. LaFleur, aka Sawyer is now head of security of the Dharma initiative. A now English speaking Jin has been scanning the area of years looking for their friends. Juliet is now a mechanic and Miles now works for Sawyer in security.
Two men in a security barracks neglecting their job end up seeing Horace, drunk, hear the sonic fence throwing dynamite at trees. They debate whether or not to wake LaFleur, afraid of what he might do. They however decide to wake him up.
Sawyer picks up Miles and they head out to get Horace. He is already passed out. Sawyer has Miles put out the fires caused by the dynamite while he takes Horace back to Amy.
Sawyer dumps Horace on the couch and Amy tells him that they had a fight. Amy is pregnant, and she suddenly starts to go into labour. A stunned Sawyer rushes her to the medical centre. The intern there doesn’t have any skills with pregnancies since they always send their women off the island.
Sawyer decides to bring Juliet out of retirement and convinces her to help delvier the baby. She reluctantly does. She is successfull however and the baby boy is born (no name given yet!). Juliet can’t believe it since she had helped so many woman try to give birth and they all died, now she helped and the mother and baby survived. Sawyer is very happy as well.
Later Sawyer brings a flower to Juliet as they are about to eat dinner. They kiss and we see that they love each other, in the three years becoming closer to one another.
When Horace wakes up Sawyer is there. He explains how he missed the baby being born but the good news is that he is a daddy. Horace tells him that he came across the ankh necklace that belong to Paul and that is what started the fight. He was worried if three years was long enough to get over someone, and Sawyer, inwardly thinking of Kate, agrees that it is, almost telling himself that he was and that he was happy with Juliet.
The next morning Sawyer is woken up by Jin on the phone. He leaves Juliet and travels by jeep north to meet Jin. There he finds Jin, along with Hurley, Jack and of course Kate. A shocked Sawyer looks on. Was three years long enough?
What We Leared
- The four toed status existed a very long time ago, and was a much taller figure most likely Egyptian
- What Locke did stopped the flashes and keep the survivors in one time period
- Charlotte, after she died, disappeared and did not travel with them
- The survivors are in 1974 at first and rescue the wife of the leader of the Dharma group, the leader being killed by the Others
- Sawyer and Juliet kills those Others
- Sawyer meets Horace Goodspeed and tells him his name is Jim LaFluer and that they were on a salvage vessel sailing from Tahiti
- Sawyer and Richard Alpert meet, Sawyer again stressing the importance of John Locke
- Daniel sees a young red headed girl that is probably Charlotte
- 3 years go by, making it 1977, the same year Star Wars was released
- Sawyer is now head of security for the Dharma Initiavie, Miles works for him, Juliet is a mechanic
- Unknown what Daniel is doing
- Horace and Amy are married, and have a baby boy thanks to Juliet helping
- Sawyer and Juliet are together and in love
