I wanted to thank everyone that took the time to look at and vote for our entry in the Haunt Your Home contest. It was fun and a great experience for the community we live in and I hope that they plan on another next year. We decorate every year so it is a no-brainer for us to enter again.
Unfortunately we didn’t win any of the prizes, but we did learn some things for next year. We are going to do a more specific theme next year, but what that is you’ll have to wait another 300+ days to find out!
Now that Halloween is done, its time for Christmas. I put up the lights last weekend, now we are just waiting for the snow to fly before we put up any more. Stay tuned!
Check out the video from our entry into the Haunt Your Home contest run by a legal firm in the local area. You can check out their site (and vote for ours if you would like) at www.wardlegal.ca. Browse the entries there. Ours is “The Wrath of Walker St.”
I posted this on YouTube and they rightly blocked all the audio because I used a couple purchased (yes I stress purchased) songs. Sorry for that, but I would rather not be handed a take down notice!
The contest ends tomorrow at 6 pm (Eastern Standard Time) so please vote! (no pressure!) Disclaimer: I have an interest in this and yes there are prizes for winners.
I came across this link to SeeNow.com. This site is incredibly fun to play with and a cool way to figure out costume ideas if you are stuck this Halloween. What they have done is created a tool that let’s you upload a photo of yourself (black and white worked great for me) to their server. They then ask you to help them position the eyes on your photo, and then that’s it! You first pick from a wide variety of photos that they will plop your face onto. They take care of of the positioning (although you can adjust it), size and colouring. I found it worked remarkably well.
The cool part is, that your uploaded photo can stay with your session, so you can easily browse other sample with your real photo in it to quickly see all the possibilities. I took this photo for my tests and used it to generate some pretty funny pics!
I think black & white is a good pic to start with
I started with this one.
And generated these, enjoy!
Always wondered what I would look like with long hair
I know Kung-Fu!
We need another Men In Black movie don't you think?
And a new Scary Movie 9 million or whatever they are at now
Bickaty Bam!
Let's re-do Spider-Man 3...what do you think?
While we are at it, let's re-do Superman Returns too
What movie is this from? Platoon?
Sexy-time!
Just let me know when you want me to fill in Tony!
Each year my friend John and I decorate up his house for Halloween and also dress up to try to scare and entertain the visitors. You can find those links here:
This year is no different, however, there is a sponsored contest this year with actual prize money to be won. We would have done this again anyway, but it’s nice to have the added bonus even if we can share what we do more than before.
You can find our entry here at the Ward’s Legal Haunt Your Home site. What is exciting about this is that the local area now has so many more homes that are showcased and let’s people get more into the spirit of the holiday. I love looking at all the house decorations and seeing what people come up with. The best part is that they are local and can be visited.
Take a look at our entry, vote if you want for the house you think is the best (ah-hem, don’t forget to check ours out!).
